GREECE, N.Y. — Greece Police showed us how technology helps them solve crime.
On social media, the police department shared drone footage from Monday night when police were looking for a suspect they say was trying to hide from them.
In the footage, you can see the drone is tracking a figure running across yards and streets. Police were able to soon catch the suspect thanks to that drone.

The Town of Greece started installing cameras, called License Plate Readers (LPR), to help catch car thieves in 2024. The cameras typically hang near power poles or with the traffic lights. They’re scanning for license plates reported stolen or those with arrest warrants attached to them.
In October, nearly a year after the cameras started to be installed, News10NBC spoke with Captain Michael Perkowski, who said when comparing six months, January to June of 2024, and 2025, motor vehicle thefts were down 50%.

Monroe County is expected to install the cameras across various intersections across the county. When we spoke to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in September, they said the project was still waiting for permit approval.
