  1. Cumberland County, Maine Sheriff Kevin Joyce was horrified by the arrest of his recruit, and said the federal government is telling a different story of what’s really happening on the ground.

  2. You can’t look any more like ISIS or similar terrorists than these ICE hicks look in these photos.

  3. I know ACAB institutionally, but these people will be the best legal cases for the resistance.

  4. Just a reminder, Him being an officer did not over-rule the fact that he was black. Officers of color will be treated just like people of color. And remember, ICE doesn’t think people of color are people.

There are a lot of people in masks who currently “talk with funny accents”, and they will be surprised in a short while by how they will be treated.

If Corrections Officers are unacceptable to ICE, there’s a lot of self-loathing happening. Or perhaps payback? 🤔

“The sheriff excoriated the agents for their conduct, saying the arrest had changed his mind about the federal government’s immigration actions.

“We’re being told one story, which is totally different than what’s occurring or what occurred [Wednesday] night,” Joyce said, noting that the recruit had passed the county’s application process to qualify as a corrections employee, and was cleared to work in the U.S. until April 2029.

“In fact, he was squeaky clean. Squeaky clean,” Joyce [said](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS7blsQ28Y4). “I guess if you’re not the card carrying, you know, U.S. citizen, then you must be illegal, because that’s what they told me is he’s illegal, and he’s definitely not a criminal. So what part of him is illegal? I don’t know.”

Well, I guess more people are waking up to the fact that ICE is not, in fact, rounding up criminals or even “illegals” (though I would posit that existing in the USA without perfect paperwork is not in fact a crime and folks who may be various sorts of undocumented or in the process of getting visas or renewals are not at all “illegal”)

    [https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/field_document/FINAL_criminalizing_undocumented_immigrants_issue_brief_PUBLIC_VERSION.pdf](https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/field_document/FINAL_criminalizing_undocumented_immigrants_issue_brief_PUBLIC_VERSION.pdf)

“Mere undocumented presence in the United States alone, however, in the absence of a previous removal order and unauthorized reentry,is not a crime under federal law.”

  7. Oh, I was waiting for some details to come out on this.

This is exactly why they ended the temporary protective status for Somalians because now they can go after “darker” people.

You can fully expect that swing districts during the midterms will have an ice present and detain people because they look Somalian.

This should terrify anybody with a shade of skin that’s slightly darker than Trump‘s

  8. Once again ICE are lying to justify their extreme use of force against other law enforcement.

  9. The secret police have zero accountability to the law while claiming they are enforcing it.

This entire federal administration is trash, implemented by one criminal that a cult serves.

  10. Say what you will, at least ICE are redefining the B in ACAB.

Imagine you get racially profiled and violently attacked by a supposed coworker and your boss says ‘whoa, must be a misunderstanding, we gotta support each other guys!’

  11. So arrest the ICE agents! Why hasn’t the sheriff tracked any ICE that were in the area and arrested them for kidnapping?

    Edit: wrong punctuation mark

  12. Well at least they didn’t do something truly terrible like kneel in protests during the National Anthem of an NFL game.

    ✔️ Documented immigrant
    ✔️ Squeaky clean record
✔️ Met the criteria to be hired as a corrections officer

What the ACTUAL fuck. This is not okay. None of this is okay.

  14. First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me

Local law enforcement has been supporting ICE this whole time. And now that this happens some of them are “rethinking” their support. The same thing is happening with conservative minorities and poor conservatives on government aid. They are flabbergasted.

Is Cumberland County doing anything about it?

That’s the problem, there are no penalties for “mistakes”

  16. I wish the sheriff would just say “white” instead of “card-carrying American citizen” or whatever the exact wording was. It’s pretty clear that’s what he means or wants to say.

  17. So, are these state and local law enforcement going to finally realize that they are not special and will be treated just like everyone else? When they realize that, will they stay to stand up to authoritarianism?

  18. No matter what you think about the cops, every single one of us should be using their own language to get them on board that ICE and Trump are out of bounds.

Lay into them that this is unconstitutional, and that trump and ICE are not representative of American ideals and exceptionalism and the rule of law and the constitution, but of authoritarianism. Try to get them with us against the overreaching federal government.

Use all their talking points that they have been using against the federal government.

Even if they don’t help us, if it gets them to just not help ICE it’ll be a plus.

We need to make this tent as big as we can possibly make it in our fight against tyranny and authoritarianism, even if it’s with folks you’d otherwise not get along with and want to say ‘i told you so’ to.

  19. We aren’t going to take a collective position on this until everyone in America is one step of separation from someone who has been directly affected. Example this sheriff. He had no position until one of his own staff was arrested. That’s just the American way.

The average person has about 150 personal relationships at any given point. 340M population divided by 150 is around the 2M mark. (Terrible math but reasoning during Covid it was about 2-3 million infected before everyone started hustling to get vaccinated. )

So they will need to arrest or harass approx 2M people personally before the American people universally give a shit. That’s a lot of fucking people

At 1000 arrests a day it will take about 5 years before we hit the 2M mark.

Either we let this endure for 5 years till everyone has been touched by it, or we turn up the volume on the giving a shit part

  20. The problem with these instances is it highlights the police are fine if it happens to citizens but have no tolerance for it happening to “their own”.

  21. There is no reason for most of these detentions to be violent or for ICE officers to roll up with guns drawn.

This is what happens when immigration policy is motivated by racism rather than any true conception of US national interest.

  22. ICE harassing northern states while the southern ones have the most illegals.

    fuck you maga supporters.

  23. >I guess if you’re not the card-carrying, you know, U.S. citizen, then you must be illegal, because that’s what they told me is he’s illegal, and he’s definitely not a criminal. So what part of him is illegal? I don’t know.

Wait until Cumberland County, Maine Sheriff Kevin Joyce figures out that they’re also doing this to card-carrying US citizens.

“I guess if you’re not the card carrying, you know, U.S. citizen, then you must be illegal”

Card carrying = white, my dude. Just say it.

  25. DesertTrailsFox on

This is horrible fucking press for them. Even MAGAs are turning their heads lately over accounts of local law enforcement being targeted while off duty.
