The accident occurred in Carrickmaquigley, Ireland, and resulted in the loss of several crabs bound for Portugal. According to the Donegal Daily, the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The horde of crustaceans, valued at around £50,000, was significantly reduced after the accident, despite efforts to collect as many crabs as possible.

An employee of the company hired to collect the crustaceans, Odhran McLaughlin, told the Donegal Daily that around 80 people, both from his company and local citizens, joined forces to try to return the cargo to the container so that it could be exported to Portugal.

Reportedly, the missing crabs died during the accident and/or successfully escaped.
