The thought is, why do people pretend every 50 years this is a surprise? Every far right and conservative movement you know will end up in irredentism. All the Polish patriots will secretly or openly want Wilno and Lwow. All German patriots similarly, all Italian patriots similarly.
It’s delusional to think their patriots are bloodthirsty and our patriots are just proud to wear a hat for that national day.

I’ve also seen A LOT of poles longing the Reczpospolita that would include all Belarus, part of Ukraine and all Lithuania. I wonder what Ukrainians or Belarusians think about it.
How consequential is all that? The german irredentism is even less relevant.
There are a lot more germans longing for an EU Army than whatever eastern expansionism.
’Surprisingly’ the poles that panic at the german ’expansionism’ are the most skeptical on an EU Army that would end the issue forever. I guess that’s because they don’t want to miss those so important votes!
