I’m seeing murmurings on CanPoli Twitter that this is him readying for a potential snap election? That honestly seems so insane to me. Carney practically is so close to a majority already, I get that polling is high, but like, I feel like calling an election early like this could easily backfire?

I’m so glad he’s not playing in the sandbox with Trump and protecting our dignity. Trump will try to punish us one way or another anyway. If we give up X to stay in his graces, tomorrow it will be Y and Z. There is no way to build anything sensible with the United States right now.
I’m glad he went to China and the Middle East and building relationships there. Nothing will fully replace how much a stable US relationship can benefit us, but when that is not available we have to follow the second best policy which is to diversify in the rest of the world.
