Jaedyn Cannon totaled 21 points as Science Park secured a 59-43 victory over Garfield in Newark.
Cannon’s 21 points included two 3-pointers, along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Dante Terrell and Jayden Flagg each contributed 11 points to the winning effort, with Terrell adding 4 steals.
Despite the loss, Garfield’s Amilleon Adams had a standout performance with a game-high 26 points, going 9-for-9 on two-point field goals and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line. Adams also contributed 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals for Garfield (3-11).
Science Park (4-11) established its dominance early, outscoring Garfield 17-7 in the first quarter and extending the lead to 33-22 by halftime. Although Garfield made a push in the third quarter, outscoring Science Park 12-7, the visitors responded with a strong 19-9 fourth quarter to seal the win.
Ah’jauan Williams pulled down 8 rebounds for Science Park, while Edion Merkaj led Garfield with 9 rebounds. Science Park’s defense was active throughout the contest, recording 9 steals and 3 blocks compared to Garfield’s 7 steals and 0 blocks.
Science Park hosts Glen Ridge at 4 p.m. on Jan. 27. Garfield travels to face Hasbrouck Heights at 7 p.m. on Jan. 26.
