Ah for FFS. Hopefully politician’s show some balls and pass legislation and Gardai enforcement. Not sure what you can do with the judiciary though.

  2. Sick, time to stop this scambler garbage once and for all. Prayers to the girl and the family.

Horrifying, I can’t begin to imagine how her family must feel. These machines are dangerous enough but the way I’ve seen people riding them makes that danger much worse. I’m hoping this will be a wake up call to allow the Gardaí to take a more hands on approach to these ejits.

  4. Happened outside my family home estate. The amount of muppets hoor-ing up and down that road on scramblers literally doing wheelies on the wrong side of the road. Horrific as that exact spot I saw a girl die after being hit by a car back in the 90’s. Something has to be done with these absolute shams having carte Blanche on the road on their scramblers

  5. I’m sure the upstanding member of society who was driving said scrambler is in the process of cooperating with the authorities as we speak

  6. So awful. Anyone who lives near there has had bad experiences with scramblers while theyre walking

  7. It was only a matter of time, let’s be honest. Anyone saying otherwise or defending it in any way has never see one fly past them. Tragic that it got to this point but here’s to hoping this will finally be the wake up call the authorities needed to put an end to it.

  8. Time for all scrambler bikes and e-scooters to be banned outright.

Garda needs to seize all of them off people and destroy them!

  9. Cunts. Lock them up and pit some fear into the other scrotes who act untouchable. RIP to the poor girl, her poor family.

Currently watching sone little shit doing wheelies on one up and down a footpath outside a row of shops at high speed.

  11. Ah Jesus.

These scramblers may already be illegal for use on roads and all that, but time to hunt them down and seize the lot of them. Straight to the crusher.

Lads riding it 10 years minimum in prison please.

    RIP.

  12. Who could have predicted this… they were roaring trough Finglas since at least 2 years.
I have seen them more often then I have seen a Grarda car there.

  13. The sound of the summer where I live was a well known ⚓anker racing around the local estates and link roads on a scrambler. Hateful little shit

  14. And nothing will be done with scramblers, let’s face it, this isn’t the first time something like this happened, they’ll be outrage for a week or two and it will all die down as if nothing happened, scramblers have been a menace for a long time and nothing is being done.

  15. I’m sure it was a little angel that was riding the bike, and he wouldn’t hurt a soul.

Condolences to the girls family. Hardly deserved to be the victim of something the garda and the government should’ve put an end to years ago.

If he was under 18 the parents of the driver need to be up in court for neglect. They either willingly enabled their child to commit manslaughter or didn’t do enough to prevent it. They need to be held accountable for their inaction.

Was cycling through the phoenix park and a whole gang of them came against me. Very intimidating but unfortunately not going to be the last tragedy

Lot of comments here talking about what will be done?

Raise this with your elected officials in both local and national level. Make sure your voice is heard and vote accordingly to changes made.

It’s a sad day for the child who has passed away due to recklessness. Theirs a broken family now because of it. Don’t argue in the comments, raise your concerns officially or nothing might change.

Hotline to report who owns them.

Undercover guards catch them leaving house on them.

    Confiscate and scrap  immediately.

Just such a pointless and tragic thing to have happened. I know people are gonna say “where are the gardaí?” but then a garda could follow up with a response and we’d end up just arguing on the internet which helps nobody.

A girl has died, and two teenage boys did it on a scrambler. I don’t expect any laws to change since I’ve no faith in our government to care about its people. And even if laws did change I don’t imagine they’ll be easy to enforce. The parents of this girl must be devastated, meanwhile the parents of the two cunts that did this happily bought a scrambler knowing the things are dangerous. I blame the children for the murder, and the respective parents of the boys for their utter neglect. Kids should be tried for manslaughter and the parents should be punished as well.

But knowing this country nothing’s gonna change. These cunts will be back out because they didn’t mean to kill someone and our judges are, for the most part, soft cunts. The only thing that will happen inevitably is someone else will suffer the same fate as this girl.

  21. I’ve reported a scrambler in my area 6 times to the Garda. Flying around a school and a playground. They’ve never come out and done anything.

  22. They need to clamp down on the sale of them. I bet a tiny percentage are ever used for actual scrambling. Limit how they can be bought, perhaps only through clubs.

Some people are making lots of money off selling them to kids (probably indirectly via parents).

  23. Ah jaysus. The poor girl! I wouldn’t have a problem with the guards having permission to ram these little scrotes off these bikes. There’s little to no deterrent to stop them.

  24. Anyone in possession of a scrambler on the road or similar, their parents should be held full accountable

  25. The reality is you all need to ask yourselves the question “who is currently tasked/empowered to make legislative changes to our law and hasn’t done anything about this problem for years?” and hold those people accountable because the level of incompetence is staggering. It’s almost as if the Irish law had been etched in stone tablets and cannot be changed whatsoever even though it’s archaic and not fit for purpose in many aspects.

This is awful but horrendous as it is to have such a young girl killed on a pedestrain crossing by a scrambler nothing will change. Condolences will be offered but excuses made for the offenders.

The moves today at to make teens and people up to the age of 24 *less* responsible.

Judges in the UK want the age of criminal responsiblity raised to 14, and you can bet they would have lots of supporters here.

As we know soon criminals before the courts in Ireland up to their mid 20s will be referred to a variation on Youth Diversion (and painting the scout den) rather than to prison, even for very serious offences.

These young lads know they’ll never see the inside of a jail cell so they don’t care, even at 16 they be laughing in court. WE need harsher laws and not people walking aroung around with 120 convictions. They just dont give a fuck, even over 18 they know moun joy is at full capacity so its just suspended sentence over another suspended sentemce.
