Europe still oblivious to threat at its doorstep — US General Hodges. Europe still doesn’t get that the war in Ukraine is a threat to its security, so it keeps dragging its feet on tough action against Russia; cutting off oil flows is critical to starving Kremlin of resources it needs for war.

  1. Europe still doesn’t get that the war in Ukraine is a direct threat to its own security, so it keeps dragging its feet on tough action against Russia. Meanwhile, cutting off oil flows is critical to starving the Kremlin of the resources it needs to keep fighting

General Ben Hodges, Commander of U.S. forces in Europe, expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

“There is no doubt that Russia is the greatest threat to European security, as well as to the U.S. and Canada. This is all because of Putin and his desire to do everything possible to destroy relations between NATO, the U.S., and Europe. Putin doesn’t care how many people he loses, because he is indifferent,” Hodges emphasized.

According to the general, Russia will not be able to defeat Ukrainian defenders, because over the past year it has captured less than one percent of Ukrainian territory. And this has cost Russia $150 billion and enormous human losses.

“We must do everything to stop the flow of oil so that Russia cannot continue to finance this war. European countries must stop all Russian tankers and help Ukraine destroy all oil production facilities in Russia,” Hodges noted.

The general added that the problem now is that Russia has targeted civilian infrastructure and the civilian lives of Ukrainians. And, unfortunately, this will continue until partners find a way to stop it.

“But the biggest threat to Europe is that it still does not understand or believe that Russia is at war with Europe. Europe still does not feel the heat. And as long as European countries remain in this state, with or without the U.S., all of this will continue,” Hodges concluded.

  2. I am afraid that the real answer is quite a lot more cynical than this.

Europe can not allow the war to end, without a total collapse of the Russian regime.

    Why? I will explain.

1: Russia is now at a full war economy. There is no other economy than war production.

2: There are about 1 million armed, trained, and traumatized men in Ukraine.

3: Assume these (2) go home, because the war ends.

4: And because the war ends, they have nothing to do because of 1.

5: What do you think that will do to Russian society and therefore the regime? Civil war.

so 6: The regime has no choice but to keep building military equipment, and keep training the men.

7: At some point you need to use that power. If not Ukriane then where? Baltics.

So, then there is a war with the EU and NATO.

The only alternative route is a total collapse of the system in Russia. But then the country falls apart in a numbers of fiefdoms. Many of whom have nukes. Also a chilling prospect.

With all due respect, he can shut the f up now.

His leader is sucking Putin’s dick, his military has been co-opted by a drunk leaking national secrets on Signal, and the USA has made it official national policy to interfere in our democracies.

Nothing any American says is worth our time or attention.

This statement would make sense, if it werent for USA, cancelling all kinds of sanctions against Russia and Belarus, and treating them like they are the ones who were attacked by Ukraine. Americans really shouldn’t be listened to anymore regarding this issue. All they’ve acchieved was prolong the war due to Biden not wanting to send too much weapons to Ukraine, and now trying to end the war in Russia’s favor, because there are some shady deals in the background. And all they’re contributing right now, is selling overpriced weapons to Europe, so we can send them to Ukraine. Fuk em.

The EU? Biden kept dragging his fucking feet and now we have Camel-Neck in Chief Krasnov in the fucking white house

And yes the EU should do more but seriously

  6. europe gvt are pussies, full scale war already started 4 years ago almost and first annexion of crimea is 12 years old almost too.

The General is right: Russia is still earning revenue from Europe, which helps fund its war against Ukraine. Zelensky almost said the same in Davos a couple days ago.

What the good general says is bullshit. The aim is for Europe to buy US oil which is more expensive which leads to higher prices and internal turmoils in the EU societies.

As much as I want EU to act it does what it can do as the politicians only aim in the last 30 years was to male their benefactors richer without any hindsight in the future. Now we all reap the ‘benefits’ of their politics.

Without a catalyst like EU country being attacked by Russia there won’t be any meaningful support for drastic actions and I doubt Russians are that stupid to choose the suicide option.

At the same time EU tbh should seek into not only getting into this war but winning it and toppling the government in Russia and changing the regime and this time be there actively. In a world of spheres and resources EU needs Russian resources and Russia whether it likes it or not needs EU both as a market and as protection for their future….but all that requires people with some sense in them.

Wow he must have really hit a nerve for telling the truth. He was asked a question and answered it.
What would have you like to have him say that Russia will dissipate and disappear in the future. Can’t pick your neighbors.
