The awards were presented to students who achieved the highest CAO points among Trinity entrants from their respective secondary schools, above a minimum threshold of 500 points.

In total, 602 first-year students from across Ireland and overseas received Entrance Awards this year, with 67 awardees coming from schools in Munster.

The Limerick recipients are Niamh Hogan (Limerick Tutorial Centre), Maeve Power (Scoil Pól), Callum Hughes (Glenstal Abbey School), Amir Al-Mukhtar (Ard Scoil Rís), Luke Carmody (St Munchin’s College), Mariam Yacoob (Laurel Hill Secondary School), Rachel Angland (Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ), Nathan Prendergast (Villiers School), and Lanna Frawley (Clochar na nUrsulach).

It also included Rejwanul Islam (Coláiste Chiaráin), Laoise O’Dwyer (Coláiste Iosaef), Katie Liu (Castletroy Community College), Emma Jane Leddin (Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh), James Fleming (Mungret Community College) and Dylan Joshua Collins (Crescent College Comprehensive).

The students, along with their former school principals, were invited to attend formal award ceremonies held in Trinity’s Examination Hall between January 20 and 22.

Congratulating the awardees, Trinity Provost Dr Linda Doyle said it was a “great privilege” to welcome them to the university.

“They deserve enormous credit for the hard work and commitment that have brought them to this point,” she said.

“I have every confidence that they will thrive in Trinity’s incredible academic environment and enjoy the creativity and fun of our 150 sports clubs and societies.”

Dr Doyle added: “I also want to congratulate all those who have supported these students on their journeys.”

“In addition to their parents and guardians, I want to acknowledge the dedication of school principals, teachers and wider school staff — both primary and secondary — who play such a vital role in bringing out the best in students during their formative years,” she said.

Of this year’s Irish award recipients, 393 are from Leinster schools, 67 from Munster, 42 from Connacht and 41 from Ulster.

A further 59 awards were made to students from 39 countries outside Ireland.

The Entrance Exhibition awards are open to students accepted into the first year of a full-time undergraduate degree at Trinity.

Where more than one student from a school attains the same top points, all are eligible to receive the award.

Awardees receive a certificate and a €150 book token.

Past Exhibitioners include former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
