Basketball Ireland has officially launched its new Nike Home and Away jerseys, unveiling a bold new national team look that draws inspiration from the golden era of 1990s basketball while delivering a contemporary, fashion-forward edge.
The new jerseys have been designed in partnership with Nike and KitKing, and will make their on-court debut next month when Ireland’s Men’s National Team face Azerbaijan and Luxembourg in the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifying at the National Basketball Arena.
From a Sport for Business perspective, the launch underlines Basketball Ireland’s growing focus on retail, brand identity and supporter engagement, with the jerseys available to purchase from 10:00 this morning through official retail partner Intersport Elverys and online via ireland.basketball/shop.
The home jersey features an iconic green base, enhanced by dark pinstripes that reference basketball’s most recognisable decade, while maintaining a clean, modern silhouette. The away jersey uses a crisp white base, finished with a distinctive three-colour trim that reflects Ireland’s national identity in a contemporary and wearable style.
“Kits create and hold fond memories for fans,” said Gus Lewis, Head of Commercial and Brand at Basketball Ireland. “We wanted to give a nod to a golden age of basketball both in Ireland and around the world, while also creating a kit that is distinctive both on and off the court. I believe we have achieved that through our collaboration with Nike, KitKing and Elverys.”
Pricing has been competitively positioned in the premium basketball apparel market. The new Nike Ireland jersey is priced from €70 for junior sizes and €75 for adults, with matching shorts available from €55 (junior) and €60 (adult). The range is designed to appeal not only to national team supporters but also to the rapidly growing community of players, clubs and casual fans across Ireland.
Lewis said the organisation expects the jerseys to resonate beyond the international window.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the kit on display for the first time at the National Basketball Arena on Friday, February 27th,” he said, “and just as importantly, seeing it worn on the streets and courts across the island of Ireland.”
With a design rooted in basketball heritage and built for the modern game, the new Nike jerseys form a central part of Basketball Ireland’s wider commercial and brand strategy, as the sport continues to grow its profile, participation and visibility both on and off the court.
