The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that Norway has provided $990,000 in assistance to Afghanistan.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, January 27, OCHA said the funds have been contributed to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

The office added: “Your continued support enables frontline partners to respond quickly and effectively to sudden emergencies.”

Previously, Sweden and Italy had also provided financial assistance to Afghanistan.

OCHA says that nearly 22 million people in Afghanistan will depend on humanitarian aid in 2026.

To address humanitarian needs in the country, OCHA has appealed for $1.71 billion in funding.
