Just play all the games in Canada and Mexico. You can’t have an event where the world is supposed to be invited and then disinvite the fans of half of the teams.

I am Polish and a massive football (soccer) fan… I don’t feel any inclination to watch the World Cup. I love the discipline, but there are so many better things to do that watching that shitshow. Unfortunately, billions will still tune in.

Who would want to travel to the US right now? Ice is kidnapping everyone who’s not white and killing American citizens for protesting. In broad daylight.

I say this as someone who would cheer on a boycott, but there will need to be a nuclear winter started by armed flying pigs before countries pull out of this tournament.

Also Sepp Blatter is one of the least qualified people to speak on this.

I hope they actually go through with the boycott. Donald Trump who crave the spotlight might not enjoy the global reaction.

  6. While I support any form of pressure on the American government to change the last cup was in Qatar, where homosexuality is punished with prison, migrants are enslaved, and women are treated like property.  The bar here is extremely low

  7. When the most corrupt organisation is the world starts to think you have gone too far… you have definitely gone too far.

I’m not surprised, if as a country, a government, can’t ensure that their law enforcement won’t freely execute someone for whatever asinine choice they make, and worse still is the government is trying to spin their own narrative to protect the bad actors, its one thing to have bad actors, something crazy to protect them, then this is not a safe or lawful country for anyone.

I certainly wouldn’t go to the world cup in the USA at this current time, just bring it home to the EU, we have the facilities, most of the fan base, it just makes sense.

  9. Let’s not forget the Olympics in 2028. Geez by then, we may be mirroring history and the 1936 Berlin Olympics. How friggin sad. Let’s hope not.

  10. ICE has quotas that they are struggling to meet. “Boycotting” will prevent being kidnapped and killed in an ICE camp.

Typical for Scotland… first World Cup in nearly 30 years and the fumbling orange twit could ruin it for us… however as a nation we’d probably be the first to support the boycott. Disgusting what’s going on and I won’t be watching.

As an American, I don’t feel safe away from my home state anymore.

Masked and IDless armed and armored thugs roaming the whole country asking where you from. And sometimes even if you provide citizenship proof (everyone has those at all times, right?) they say it’s fake.

As a traveler, why even risk entry in the US? They look at your social media postings nowadays. You posted something funny about Trump that one time? They might not allow you in. Why risk for a World Cup trip that’s probably gonna cost you thousands and thousands.

  13. FIFA, the Olympics, etc… they are a reason for dirty money from across the globe to exchange hands.

They make taxpayers pay for those stadiums that’s going to be empty in 2 years.

Time to boycott was a long time ago…

It’s up to players to boycott. Same with us professional athletes. Stop playing, you have plenty of money. As soon as the billionaires start losing money they will order trump to stop.

  15. FIFA creation of “peace” prize and replica trophies just aren’t good enough?

Is the embarrassment worth it? Many countries should absolutely refuse to just play in the US on principles, at least Qatar put up the illusion of welcoming fans around the world. US isn’t even trying

They’ve hosted it in Russia and Qatar, they’re definitely not taking the games out of the United States, and as much as people would like to believe on here, FIFA does not give a crap who hosts their tournaments because they are going to make a shit ton of money either way. This will be most likely messy and Ronaldo’s last World Cup not to mention a bunch of others that I can’t pronounce. They’re also going to be hosting it in Saudi Arabia in 2034 this happens with every World Cup.

  17. plastic_alloys on

I think it’s probably the right thing to do – but it was the right thing to do for tournaments/events held in Qatar, Russia etc. (and more so, if I’m honest).

It would be *funnier* this time though if nobody turned up and Trump got mad. Similarly at the next Olympics

  18. I_might_be_weasel on

Forget needing boycott, foreigners have to be terrified to come here at this point.

  19. Hey world, as an American, I’m begging you to boycott the living shit out of everything we do. Please cut us off. Pretty please?

  20. All you have to do is see how many countries are banned otherwise from coming to America.

  21. OrganizedChaos1979 on

It was a lot of fun when we had it in 1994. I was excited that at least part of it was coming for ’26.

Now, I just don’t give a fuck. Everything Trump touches turns to buffalo diarrhea. Something that I was looking forward to for several years now, is now an afterthought. I’ll just stick with my Reds playing mediocre baseball.

  22. Haltheoptimist on

Botcotting the World Cup Sponsors and their products will hurt their profits and they will appeal to Trump that we are being mean to them. He doesn’t like it when American companies get targetted by protests.
