  1. That sucks. I hope everyone is okay – check on the elderly and infirm today, whether in Ouyen or anywhere else hot today.

  2. Technically Walpeup as that’s where the closest observation site to Ouyen is, but indeed, the previous all-time Victorian temperature record of 48.8º has now been beaten at both Walpeup and Hopetoun today with possibly more temperature rises to come still

I’m following the live observations on BOM, I guess Ouyen uses the same station as Walpeup which is where the 48.9 has been recorded?

Hopetoun just recorded 48.9 as well, with more time for it to grow. Mildura has also beaten its recorded, currently on 48.4. There’s a possibility that Victoria could near 50° today which is insane.

Renmark across the border in SA is currently holding the days record at 49.6. Quite a few NSW stations above 48° as well. Absolutely insane heatwave.

  4. Records fallen in Warrnambool (45C), Mildura (48.4C), and Renmark over the border (49.6C)

    Humidity down to 5%.
