Political tension is rising in the Czech Republic: the president aims to resolve the conflict with the foreign minister solely through a meeting with the prime minister, while activists call for a demonstration in support of Pavel.

After mutual accusations between President Petr Pavel and Foreign Minister Petr Mačinka, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš proposed meeting all three to reach an understanding.
However, as Prague Castle spokesman Vít Kolář stated,
the president expects that the prime minister will be accountable for the ministers in his government, and for the president, the partner for discussion is the prime minister

The president said he would embark on a private trip to one of the EU countries.

Meanwhile, activists from the organization “Million Moments” are calling for a demonstration in support of Pavel.

As reported, on Monday the planned meeting between the Czech president, the prime minister, the speakers of both chambers of Parliament, and the foreign minister did not take place. Later Pavel said that Mačinka is blackmailing him, and urged the competent authorities to assess the actions of the official.
The situation around the crisis remains dynamic, and Pavel’s support is growing among his followers.
