From Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. They’re LaFou, the tiny, weak guy who clings to the bully.

For people who claim to value “hard work,” they really do just want a strong authority figure to give them simple solutions to complex problems and fix their world with no effort or thinking on their own part.

Yep. Its laughable. They bang on about how precious their freedom is, but then they dont want people exercising that freedom in ways they dont agree with. I just get conformist, boot licking ‘Tread on me harder, daddy!’ vibes from conservative types who seem to want to be lead and told how to live because it feels safe rather than experiencing life on their own terms. Thats why they hate anyone different to them.
I have come to see conservatives as sort of ‘teachers pets’; they try make everyone act the same to appeal to authority. They want to position themselves as ‘model students’ and will rat out their fellow classmates if it gets them in the good graces of their leader. Thats the kind of mentality I see in them. They back it up with a ‘well if you just listen to our favourite leader and do what they say you will be fine.’ but the moment that leader is more liberal and offers flexibility and for people to feel safe exercising their freedom to be themselves, that flexibility is a threat to the rigid thinking of conservatives.
They covet freedom but they are scared of it because they dont even know what to do with it. They just want to be told what to do and for everyone to do the same thing. Bunch of mindless drones.

Recently read a paper that poorly performing men are more aggressive towards women and submissive towards more competent men because they are afraid of losing their status.
So basically they’re fearful little losers and they know it.

What’s crazy is this goes all the way to the top. Trump is giddy to be a lackey for Putin. Elon and Musk don’t have to listen to anybody but they’re happy to get on their knees for Trump.
Guys that succeed to the top of hierarchies also love hierarchies and authority. You would think nobody could tell these guys what to do but they love getting stepped on
