According to a public opinion
poll commissioned by the news portal Siol, Slovenia’s largest
opposition party and ruling party remain the main players in the
political arena, with 22.5% preferring the Democratic Party
(SDS), down 1.4 percentage points from December, and 18.3%
preferring the Freedom Movement, down 0.7 points, Slovenian news
agency STA reported today. Slovenia will hold parliamentary
elections on March 22. The coalition Social Democrats (SD) saw a
one-point increase in support to 8.7%, while the Democrats of
Anže Logar saw a 0.2-point decrease to 7.3%. The joint list of
the coalition Left and the non-parliamentary green party Vesna
gained nearly two points to 6.4%. The joint list of the
opposition New Slovenia (NSi), the non-parliamentary People’s
Party (SLS), and Focus polled at 6%, followed by the
anti-establishment party Truth (5.3%) and MEP Vladimir
Prebilič’s Renaissance party (3.1%).
