Shinichi Sato (62), a former professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate School, was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on the 24th on suspicion of repeatedly receiving entertainment in return for providing favors to a general incorporated association regarding joint research on cannabis.

The university also conducted an internal investigation to check for similar cases, and revealed that 22 cases had been found to be in violation of the ethics code. Of these, 19 cases involved entertainment and other expenses of less than 10,000 yen and were not continuous, but disciplinary procedures were being taken against three cases involving expensive entertainment.

Even if it’s less than 10,000 yen and not repeated, they should at least get some kind of disciplinary action.

I remember a news about a bus driver who took some fare and had to forfeit all his pension because of it. Are University of Tokyo professor that stupid that they don’t know a simple rule to not have bribes?

A convenience worker may get fired if he was found shoplifting an item from the store. Are University of Tokyo professors not paid that much that they can’t even pay 10,000 yen from their own pocket?

It’s a public school so tax payers’ money is being used to run this school.

  2. Punish him but like… idk, there’s bigger fraud to worry about than something less than 2,000$.Â
