    >An independent Alberta would immediately put up a “no vacancy” sign for potential immigrants, Rath said.

    >“There is no way on God’s green earth that we need any temporary foreign workers in this province,” Rath said to applause. “There are international mobility program workers, all being subsidized by the federal government to compete with your kids for rent, compete with your kids for housing, plug our emergency rooms. They stuff our classrooms full of children who do not speak English, they’re English as a second language students, and they’re driving our teachers to distraction.”

    >He said Alberta would also have a strong deportation program. He decried the fact that many immigrants now work entry-level jobs.

    >“It used to be that working in a fast-food restaurant was an entry-level job for a 16-year-old. My first job, believe it or not, was here in Edmonton, at a little Kentucky Fried Chicken/burger joint in Riverbend. Now, you can’t get that job. It’s like, ‘no, you don’t speak whatever Southeast Asian language all the rest of our employees speak, so we can’t hire you.’ That’s literally being told to our kids when they apply for jobs at these places.”

I mean, this could’ve been written by just about anyone on this sub. You see this exact take all the time, and it usually racks up plenty of upvotes. It’s been a pretty mainstream view here for years.

It’s interesting how he’s elected himself as the leader of an independent Alberta already. Super interesting, nobody saw that coming.

Watch video interviews with him. He’s unstable, his ego is not in check, and he acts like someone who’s using a lot of cocaine.

The whole set of separatist leaders are variations on this. Obvious financial fraud, weird behavior.

  4. Most people simply want to go along to get along and will maintain the status quo, which is why AB separation won’t ever happen. Normalcy bias is a real thing.

  5. > We will move forward in a positive way to get Alberta out of Canada and free ourselves from this tyranny we’ve been living under as a resource colony for Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal.

    Hah!

Well then, enjoy being a resource colony for the United States! Bet you’ll get better treatment from them (heavy sarcasm)!

  6. Everytime I hear the complaints from these people, its either vague annoyance that should be aimed at the Albertan government or them venting the voices in their heads.

God, hasn’t the number of Immigrants got on shorter?
I know most Canadians want to make Canada into a full white hegemony country, but having Right-Wing leaders like Smith and Ford really weakens their argument.

And, if They’re spreading the “Separate Alberta” narrative in-order to be taken seriously by Ottawa, then they’re really bad at playing Chess. This also weakens the White hegemony stance.

This man is unhinged from reality. I’m not surprised his support numbers vary from those put out by reputable pollsters.

Proud that after thousands came out in Calgary, he spoke to “about 100 supporters” in Edmonton.

    LOL

So…ever tried to diversify your economy to do something else than exploit oil then? I mean, you’re the ones to focus entirely on oil.

That diner owner says she’s *most* scared of Sharia Law…

What reality do these people live in?

Also, if Alberta were an independent country tomorrow, how many people would be Canadian “immigrants?” As I know it lots of people are in from other provinces to work.
