Isn’t this pretty par for the course for countries everywhere though? In recent years youth mental health has been on the decline everywhere, and the global youth suicide trend went upward in 2025 as well. Japan has always been a country where mental health crises result in more suicide overall (compared to outwardly violent behavior like in other countries) so this doesn’t seem surprising. I think part of this follows the trend of the impact that technology and social media is having on youth, rather than some sudden change in cultural stress.
