The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that the selection of Kosovo as a co-founding state in the “Peace Board”, an important international organization led by the United States of America, has been extremely positively evaluated by numerous world leaders and has given a powerful message for the statehood and sovereignty of Kosovo.
In “Përballje Podcast” with editor-in-chief Muhamet Hajrullau, Osmani said that not only the leaders who were present at the ceremony, but also many others from different countries around the world, contacted him later to assess this development.
“First of all, this was appreciated by all the leaders who were there that day, but also many other leaders who were not there who contacted me later, leaders of states from Europe to Asia and Latin America. The impression has been created that the Republic of Kosovo is truly a strong partner of the United States of America, the Republic of Kosovo has been chosen by President Trump as one of the states he trusts to be a founding member of an organization that is so important to him and I would say here and for the whole world and for peace in the world,” said Osmani.
She emphasized that during discussions with various presidents, including from states that have not yet recognized Kosovo, this US action was seen as an important signal for future decisions.
“I had discussions with many of the presidents who were present that day, because we had to stay together before the ceremony began, and in many of these discussions, some of the non-recognizing states have also emphasized that for them this action by America has extraordinary significance for their decisions that will be taken in the future in relation to Kosovo, so they have told me this and this is very, very important for us,” Osmani continued.

According to Osmani, the fact that Kosovo is a co-founding member of this organization has greater weight than membership in many other international organizations.
“The fact that we are co-founding members with these states strengthens the international subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo, therefore, we have also assessed that membership in this organization is even stronger not only in terms of symbolism and political alignment, but also in terms of strengthening the international subjectivity that the United States of America has enabled us to do, I say without any equivocation that this is more important than many other organizations,” said President Osmani.
The President denied that this alignment has caused any problems in relation to the European Union, emphasizing that there has been full understanding from European partners.
“There was not a single remark expressed in relation to Kosovo, on the contrary, full understanding was expressed for Kosovo’s membership in this organization. It was seen and appreciated by many of our European partners as an opportunity for Kosovo to strengthen its international subjectivity and relations even with non-recognizing states, there were also assessments of the fact that Kosovo was selected to be a founding state of this organization and not just a state that will join later, which is of extremely great importance,” said Osmani.

Osmani also emphasized the symbolic and political importance of selecting Kosovo as one of the 20 founding states, alongside countries with very large populations and economies.
“You have seen many of the countries that were there, they are extremely large countries, countries with three hundred million inhabitants, countries with two hundred million inhabitants, countries with extraordinary economies, some of them, and Kosovo being selected among the twenty founding countries, this shows extraordinary appreciation on the part of the United States of America,” the president declared on the “Confrontation Podcast”.
In the end, President Osmani said that this development has sent a powerful message worldwide about Kosovo’s statehood and that aligning with the US remains the right path and that this has never resulted badly for Kosovo.
