On January 23, the General Director of the Kosovo Police, Colonel Gazmend Hoxha, accompanied by senior leaders from the KP, made the first official visit of the Kosovo Police to the border between the United States of America and Mexico.

According to a statement, the delegation closely observed real-time border security operations at the Laredo Port of Entry, in cooperation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and border officials.

“The visit was organized with the support of the United States Embassy in Pristina through DOJ-ICITAP. This historic visit marked the first time that Kosovo Police officials have directly observed operational procedures at several US-Mexico border crossing points. The delegation expressed high appreciation for the opportunity to become closely acquainted with CBP and Border Patrol’s sophisticated border management practices, the use of modern technologies, and coordinated law enforcement approaches used at one of the busiest points of entry into the United States,” the announcement states.

As stated in the announcement, during the visit, Kosovo Police representatives observed real-time operations, including inspection procedures, risk-based control methods, and the integration of technology to strengthen border security, while facilitating trade and freedom of legitimate travel.

“These experiences were highly valued both in terms of practical knowledge and are valuable lessons that can be adapted to strengthen border security operations in Kosovo. The Kosovo Police highly appreciates the visit, the knowledge and experiences gained will contribute to future planning and capacity building initiatives, including continued cooperation with the US Embassy in Kosovo to advance border security standards and increase operational effectiveness.”

This visit underscores the strong partnership between Kosovo and the United States and reflects a shared commitment to border security, innovation, and international cooperation. /Telegraph/
