As Ukrinform reports, Reuters reports this.
In central Serbia, law enforcement conducted a special operation at a small agricultural-trading enterprise and seized 5 tons of marijuana – the largest known seizure in the country’s history. The event underscores the police’s consistent actions in fighting illegal drug trafficking.
According to investigators, two people were arrested during the operation, while a third suspect remains at large.
“This is a record find,” said Dačić, adding that the police also seized four assault rifles and an anti-tank grenade launcher.

The largest find in Serbia’s history and its context
Special attention from law enforcement allows understanding the scale of the illicit drug trade: cannabis production is prohibited in Serbia, although there are debates about the potential medical use. According to the Interior Minister, the origin of the batch will be established during the investigation.
In the context of European integration, Serbia continues to strengthen the fight against illegal trafficking and production of drugs. Experts note that the majority of prohibited substances originate from various regions of the world, notably the Middle East and Latin America.
As part of this course of action, Serbian authorities are tightening control over cannabis and other prohibited substances, working on swift investigations and dismantling supply channels.
This event underscores Serbia’s firm stance against the drug trade and demonstrates the readiness of law enforcement agencies to act promptly and decisively.
