A woman was taken to hospital after being attacked by masked men who smashed up a house in Co Antrim.

It happened in Ballymoney on Friday night.

Children were present when the attack happened.

Police said it was a “very distressing incident”.

Officers were called at 9.15pm after two masked men, armed with weapons, were reported to have attacked the property in the Carnany Park area.

It was reported the woman had been assaulted.

Inspector Dalzell added: “Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, who took the woman on to hospital for treatment to her injuries.

“There were a number of people in the property at the time of the attack, including another woman and a man, along with a number of children.

“A significant amount of damage was caused to the interior of the house, with numerous items smashed before the men made off.

“We believe the suspects turned right after leaving the house and then ran down an alleyway beside the next-door property.

“This was a very distressing incident for all concerned, particularly given the fact there were a number of children in the house while all of this was going on.
