Vetevendosje secured 51.1 percent of the vote.

Kosovo’s election commission on Saturday confirmed that Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s Vetevendosje party won more than half of the vote in last month’s election, following a full recount ordered over irregularities.

Central Election Commission chief Kreshnik Radoniqi said Vetevendosje secured 51.1 percent of the vote, ahead of the Democratic Party of Kosovo on 20.19 percent and the Democratic League of Kosovo on 13.24 percent.

A full recount and criminal investigation were launched earlier this month after discrepancies were found, leading to the arrest of more than 100 election officials suspected of manipulating results affecting around 70,000 votes.

Despite winning 57 seats in the 120-seat parliament, Kurti is expected to struggle to form a government, as main rivals have ruled out a coalition, likely forcing him to seek support from minority parties. | BGNES, AFP
