Tirana Police has successfully finalized the police operation codenamed “Lockdown”, after a 2-month investigation with proactive methods by Police Commissariat No. 3, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the Police, the operation hit a criminal group suspected of trafficking and selling firearms in Tirana, mainly trafficked from Kosovo.

As part of this operation, four citizens were arrested: GN, 39 years old, RR, 48 years old, KC, 49 years old and AC, 45 years old, all residents of Tirana.

“Investigations suspect that these citizens, after obtaining firearms mainly from Kosovo, brought them to Tirana and then modified and stored them in Selita,” the announcement states.

During the search of premises used as a base for criminal activity, the Police seized: 8 firearms (5 pistols and 3 automatic rifles), various weapon parts, a shotgun, combs and combat ammunition, 3 police-style radios, a multifunctional vest and 9 cell phones.

“Specialists from Police Commissariat No. 3, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, have successfully finalized the police operation ‘Lockdown’,” the announcement states.

The police announce that they are working to identify and capture other persons involved in this criminal activity, while the procedural materials have been passed on to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action. /Telegraph/
