Donald Trump touts ‘total access to Greenland’
President Donald Trump touted ‘total access to Greenland’ through a framework deal with NATO.
James “Jim” Stavridis, a retired U.S. Navy four-star admiral and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, will be the featured speaker at Augustana University’s Boe Forum on Public Affairs in late March.
Stavridis is a Florida native who speaks three languages and, during a 37-year Navy career, oversaw operations in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, the Balkans and counter piracy off the coast of Africa, according to an Augustana University news release.
He is also a New York Times best-selling author and has published 15 books about “leadership, character, risk, the oceans, maritime affairs and Latin America,” the news release says.
“At this time of geopolitical uncertainty, (Stavridis) will provide attendees with a unique perspective on events in Europe, South America and the Mideast,” said Harry Thompson, executive director of the Center for Western Studies, the sponsor of the event.
After his military career, Stavridis also served five years as dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Massachusetts.
