Had this discussion about companies that collaborated with the Nazies/fascists during WWII. The answer is that “most” companies, even US companies, were involved in doing business with the fascist regimes. So this is not a “clutch your pearls” moment, and it’s not time to start boycotting Lufthansa.

We need to stop playing this game of calling out companies and owners of those companies who had nothing to do with the crimes that occurred. Nobody at Lufthansa currently had anything to do with Nazi Germany or the Holocaust.
This doesn’t help anyone. There are plenty of actual antisemites in the world who hate Jews and want to harm Jews. Going after companies like this doesn’t protect Jews or stop hate. It’s a distraction.
The Germans are good people. They acknowledged the horrors of what their grandparents did and they built a better society in spite of it. We need to stop.

When I worked for another big German conglomerate, they would have an annual exhibit in their fancy corporate lobby detailing their culpability during the horrors of the Nazi regime. They wear their hearts on their sleeve, and it made me proud to be associated with them. Too few of us admit to our evils, or learn from our mistakes.

That said, the role of some companies in Nazi war crimes needs shouldn’t be ignored or forgotten. I’m thinking specifically of Bayer and their role in directly supporting the medical experiments on prisoners at Auschwitz.
