Zoroastrians follow Zarathustra (Zoroaster), one of the world's earliest known prophets, who lived in ancient Iran around 1500 to 1000 ВСЕ. Their religion, Zoroastrianism, centers on the cosmic struggle between truth (asha) and falsehood (druj), and the worship of Ahura Mazda, the supreme God. It was the state religion of powerful empires like the Achaemenid Empire and the Sassanian Empire, influencing later ideas of heaven, hell, judgment, and free will. After the Islamic conquest of Persia (Present Iran), many Zoroastrians migrated to India, where they became known as Parsis. They're a small but historically one of the most influential community of India.

  1. What is the source for this? I know it says “most” but the UK is coloured and eg Australia, Singapore and Sweden not, while AFAIK they have roughly similar Zoroastrian populations. Especially as it’s not like the list goes on endlessly.

Also, Afghanistan might still have somewhat of a sizable population but for obvious reasons there’s absolutely no census of it. Although I also can believe most if not all of them have left the country (and that’s a euphemism).

    [edit] immediate downvote, typical.
