For those who don’t want to click the article they’ve been replaced with Stewart Lee, Meghan Markle and Lena Headey
Francis Bourgeois being given this opportunity gives me hope that the world is healing; I think he’s fab and I hope he smashes it!
Clarkson, Hammond and May were the program. Top Gear couldn’t just replace them and nor can The Grand Tour.
Heres the salient bit of the article
>YouTubers Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, best known for their motoring content, as well as social media star and train enthusiast Francis Bourgeois, will front the revamped version of the Prime Video series.
Have no clue who any of these people are

Can’t say I’ve heard of any of them, but that’s not really a surprise. I can’t see it lasting, though. The relaunched Top Gear and The Grand Tour became global phenomenon because of the excellent chemistry between Clarkson, Hammond and May; that’s almost impossible to replicate, particularly by studio executives actively trying to manufacture it. You could absolutely tell that the trio were actually good friends who enjoyed winding each other up, and that’s not something that you can just reproduce artificially. The BBC found this out when they had to relaunch Top Gear.
Besides, The Grand Tour was always the inferior version of their antics anyway. You could tell by the end that they were simply running out of ideas. Plus, they were always more entertaining when they had a miniscule budget rather than unlimited cash; it was always better to see what old banger they bought for £500 when they were on the BBC, than the £100k vehicles they had on Amazon.
Best of luck to them, but I won’t be watching.
CLARKSON!!!!
James
Richard
The GOATS can never be replaced. When they leave the show dies. It was fun while it lasted
They’re all relatively popular on YouTube so there’s a good chance the show will at least pick up a solid audience from the first episode.
I can imagine the Clarkson/Hammond/May fans probably won’t have ever heard of anyone except the train spotting guy, but times change and the show is probably aiming itself at a younger demographic.
Hopefully it’s decent and they don’t try to just replicate the original trio.
Better off just making a new show for the guys and a train show for Francis.
You can’t just force them to be people they aren’t.
It won’t work and people will see right through it.
I love James and Thomas’s motoring stuff, think they will do a great job with this show.
For those who don’t know these guys, I think you’re all in for a surprise. No, no one can ever truly replace the original trio. But I’d argue that James and Thomas in particular have come closer than anyone else in terms of their content to what the original top gear gave us. Specifically in terms of striking a balance between technical knowledge, production value and presenter chemistry. I’m excited.
The problem is that TG and TGT were Clarkson, Hammond, May – The titles of the programmes are essentially irrelevant.
Regardless of how well these three do, there’s going tp be backlash as they are not Clarkson, Hammond, May.
In any event I do wish them well, and hope that social media is kind to them.
Tom and James already have the top gear energy and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed their content. I honestly don’t know about Francis. I’ve only ever known him as his persona
Amazon not learning from the mistakes the BBC made, clearly.
The show was Clarkson, Hammond, and May – in both cases.
This will draw a tiny percentage of the viewers Clarkson’s Farm gets.
Well this is going to be a huge waste of money. When are studious going to realise we tune in for Clarkson, Hammond & May.
I reckon they should have got;
1) Matt Armstrong
2) Guy Martin
3) Mick Schumacher
Oh the throttle house guys. They aren’t bad actually.
Can’t wait for people to form judgement before a single episode is produced!!
You’d think Amazon would have realised after the BBC debacle with Top Gear that people watched the programme for the three presenters , not the cars. This will last one series and be canned .
Not sure what the point of this is. Surely people watched the Grand Tour for the original three, not the programme itself.
concepts aren’t charismatic, people are. no one watches clarkson’s farm for the farm
The grand tour literally only exists because amazon realized that if you took out the 3 stars, top gear is no longer the same show… and yet they are still trying the same thing top gear did?
Matt Watson from Carwow should have been in with a shout.
How on earth do you not learn from what happened to Top Gear?
I feared they would fall into the same trap as Top Gear with already super well known names with guys already in their 50’s.
Fresh faces around the same age of the original trio when they started back in 2002, the right call. Curious to see it.
Hope the original three drop in every now and then.
Yearning for the end of the Bourgeois hype. Absolutely insufferable.
Did Amazon not see what happened to Top Gear when they tried with the 3?
People not happy, cus they’re not the original three. But people need to move on. Even i loved the original guys, but it’s time to make way for people who are actually passionate about cars again. Tom and James are fantastic guys, check out their YouTube channel. Very funny
Wasn’t the Grand Tour created because it was the Clarkson, Hammond and May show?
I guess Amazon is a US company and milking everything for every cent they can get is a religion there.
Not watching this shite especially with that train knob head does my head in
