MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Istanbul Evgeniya Bortkevich, together with Belarusian companies engaged in organic fertilizer technologies, attended the opening of the Agroexpo 2026 exhibition in Izmir, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Istanbul.

A roundtable titled “Practical solutions for restoring degraded land and processing organic waste – investing in the future” was held on the sidelines of the exhibition. It was organized for Turkish companies interested in cooperation in the fields of environmentally friendly agriculture, organic waste processing, and soil fertility restoration. The participants exchanged experiences and discussed prospects for the joint production of organic fertilizers based on innovative Belarusian technologies.

In addition, a meeting was held in Istanbul with Secretary General of the Turkish Hoteliers Association (TÜROB) İsmail Taşdemir. The Belarusian side presented a unique project for the disposal of food waste from hotels, particularly those operating on an all-inclusive basis, with subsequent utilization for the production of organic fertilizers.

The initiative received support from the Turkish side. An agreement was to promptly work out the details and launch a pilot project in Turkish hotels as the start of the new tourist season is already on the horizon.
The implementation of this program will become a significant contribution to reducing food waste, promoting green technologies, and strengthening Belarusian-Turkish partnership in the fields of environment and sustainable development.
