Finland has announced plans to allocate three million euros towards supporting the UN Women’s Ukraine Country Programme during 2026-2028, according to the Finnish foreign ministry.

In a press release on Friday, the ministry said the move demonstrates Finland’s commitment to supporting the rights of women and girls and aiding Ukraine’s recovery and rebuilding.

“Supporting UN Women in Ukraine is an investment in the country’s resilience and its gender equality efforts. Through this funding, we aim to promote the rights and agency of women and girls living in crisis-affected areas,” Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio (Finns), said in the release.

The UN programme works to advance gender equality through cooperation with Ukrainian authorities and civil society. According to the ministry, Finland’s goal in supporting the effort is to ensure equal access to services and decision-making, “and to help build a sustainable future”.

The ministry said Finland’s aim is to promote women’s private-sector engagement, boost innovation and digitalisation, as well as ensure that Ukrainian women have “the opportunity to shape reconstruction solutions”.
