(WLOS) — Duke Energy has planned an emergency outage on the transmission line at Haywood Electric Membership Corporation’s Quebec Substation.
According to a social media post from Haywood EMC, the planned outage will take place between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and will affect Haywood EMC members in the following areas:
- Lake Toxaway
- Quebec
- Balsam Grove
- Cold Mountain
- Wolf Mountain communities of Transylvania County

Haywood EMC says the outage is necessary to correct sagging high voltage lines that have fallen out of line and have been swaying in the wind.
The outage and repairs are necessary to prevent serious damage and danger in the future.
