Malta Public Transport will be increasing bus service frequencies throughout Carnival weekend, between 13th and 15th February, to cope with the expected surge in passengers heading to celebrations in Valletta and Nadur.
For Valletta Carnival, several routes serving the capital will operate with extended hours and increased frequencies on Sunday, while routes connecting Ċirkewwa, St Paul’s Bay and St Julian’s will also be boosted on Saturday.
Special arrangements are also being put in place for the hugely popular Nadur Carnival in Gozo. Additional services will run throughout the weekend, with direct buses linking Victoria and Nadur at regular intervals. These will be supported by shuttle services between the Mġarr Ferry Terminal and Nadur, timed to match ferry arrivals.
To help revellers get home safely, late-night return services will operate to all localities in Gozo via routes 801 to 806, ensuring island-wide connectivity after the festivities end.
Dedicated Nadur Carnival routes will also serve:
-
Xagħra and Marsalforn
-
Xewkija, Sannat, Munxar and Xlendi
-
Kerċem and Santa Luċija
-
San Lawrenz, Għarb, Għasri and Żebbuġ
-
Għajnsielem and Mġarr, as well as Qala
Meanwhile, special routes S41 to Valletta and S222 to Sliema will operate from the Ċirkewwa terminal, depending on demand.
All holders of a personalised Tallinja Card can travel free of charge on day, night and special services. Passengers without a valid card can buy a ticket on board for €2 on day routes or €3 on special and night services, with cash and contactless payments accepted.
