Greece improved its standing in the fight against corruption in 2025 while corruption worsened globally, Transparency International said Tuesday in its annual report.
Greece ranked 56th among 182 countries, rising three places compared to last year’s ranking, and increased its score by one point to 50 on a scale of 100. The report said Greece has climbed 11 places over seven years.
More than two-thirds of countries worldwide scored below 50, signaling serious corruption problems across much of the world, Transparency International said. Countries scoring under 25 ranked at the bottom of the index and were largely conflict-affected, the organization added.
“Only a small group of 15 countries, mainly in Western Europe and Asia-Pacific, manage to get scores above 75,” Transparency International said. [AMNA]
