Magnitude 4.9 Earthquake Strikes Near Tetovo, North Macedonia

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake near Tetovo, North Macedonia, was reported only 7 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5. km beneath the epicenter late at night on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, at 10:05 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake. Weak shaking might have been felt in Skopje (pop. 474,900) located 40 km from the epicenter, Kumanovo (pop. 75,100) 60 km away, and Pristina (pop. 550,000) 61 km away.
