Sandra Kolaković has been appointed as the new head coach of Serbia’s women’s national handball team, following a decision by the Executive Board of the Serbian Handball Federation.
Returning to the role two decades after her first mandate in 2006, Kolaković said the previous experience—marked by injuries, key absences and an extremely young squad at a major tournament—shaped her and helped define her coaching approach today.
She underlined that she is coming back with “more experience and a clearer vision,” backed by a strong staff and institutional support for long-term work. Kolaković stressed that Serbia will focus on building a recognizable identity through disciplined team values, strong defense, fast transition, psychological cohesion and clearly defined roles—believing that with the right structure the team can compete evenly with most national sides worldwide.
Kolakovic will replace Spaniard Jose Ignacio Prades who was leading the team at World Championship 2025 where Serbs ended 12th.
