Major milestones were reached this week in China’s nuclear sector as two different power plants successfully completed critical “doming” operations.
At the Haiyang plant in Shandong province, engineers finished installing the outer dome for Unit 4, while over in Liaoning province, the Xudabao plant saw the hoisting of the inner containment dome for its first unit.
These synchronized achievements signal a rapid acceleration in nuclear energy infrastructure.
“This successful hoisting of the top head creates favourable conditions for subsequent installation, commissioning, and grid connection, providing strong support for building China’s northernmost nuclear power base and laying a solid foundation for Liaoning Province to develop an integrated wind, solar, thermal, nuclear, and energy storage base,” CNNC said, as reported by World Nuclear News.
