  1. Turkey genocided all of them with the Greeks and Armenians in first priority. The civilised west permitted it. Shrinking Christianity (and I’m talking about culturally in a broad way including agnosticism and European civilisation in general) seems to be good for some, no wonder we argue if preserving our culture is islamophobic nowadays. Brain rot

Lebanon was majority christian in 1927 🤦‍♂️
Check the census data if you don’t believe me

  3. I’m looking forward to the comments blaming Arabs when it’s pretty much entirely due to Turkey committing genocide

  4. The Muslim population has decreased in the former territories of the Ottoman Empire.

The Christian population in Türkiye has decreased.

    Trigger sound…

  5. I’m really sick of people thinking they know anything about a country – especially if that country is from the so-called “middle east”. Everyone’s a historian these days. (Talking about some of the comments)

  6. About 20% christians for turkey in 1910, but that’s according to the data of the ottoman census of 1914 that under-counted christians. If you take into account figures from the Armenian and Greek Patriarchates instead of the Ottoman ones, the percentage of christians bumps up to 26%.

  7. What this map shows:

The percentage of Christians has increased in Central Asia, Azerbaijan, Libya and Chad between 1910 and 1927.
The percentage of Muslims in Armenia has drastically decreased between 1910 and 1927.
So outside of turkey the percentage of Christians in these countries has either stayed the same or it even increased.

But Reddit is gonna focus on “Le evuhl Muzlimz” as always…

  8. Given that these borders did not exist prior to the Ottoman defeat in WW1, I doubt these numbers.

    Bring back the Ottomans!

Euro colonialism was devastating to the Middle East, news at 11.

  10. I know several members of various Christian Palestinians communities, many of them are parents of or directly had to leave Israel/occupied Palestine due to poor living conditions from the occupation. The discrimination they face is real , it’s not a religious issue . Israelis systematically discriminate against any Palestinian.

Not shocked, the ethnic cleansing of Christians in Muslim nations is not talked about enough, happening today too in Syria
