A Maine man is dead and two women suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash that happened Tuesday afternoon in the town of Poland, according to authorities.The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened at about 3:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Plains Road.Investigators said a gray 2016 Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on Plains Road and attempted to pass a Subaru when it collided head-on with a silver 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 that was traveling in the westbound lane.The driver of the Jeep, Dylan Sanphy, 26, of Gorham, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office said two women who were passengers in the Jeep were seriously injured in the crash. Both women were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, a man from Mechanic Falls, was evaluated by emergency responders at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office said he did not require transport to a hospital.The Sheriff’s Office said the Subaru that was being passed by the Jeep did not remain at the crash scene. Deputy Chris Miller is seeking to speak with the people who were inside the Subaru.
