“1.3 million Russian casualties to date in the war, 400,000 of those in 2025.”
All for the glory of one man.

The Soviet Union (which had a bigger and better population pyramid than current Russia) spent 10 years in Afghanistan, suffering around 15,000 deaths and around 70,000 total casualties. They ultimately withdrew from Afghanistan, and their loss there was one of the contributing factors to the collapse of the USSR.
Ukraine, in only a few years as opposed to a decade, has amassed for Russia several orders of magnitude more casualties than the USSR’s war with Afghanistan.
I’m curious to see what will happen when this war’s chickens come home to roost.

With all the nasty things going on world wide, would it be just a gift if Russia collapsed into separate regions. I don’t care if they have nukes, let’s figure it out. Decentralize the Russian bear’s power first and then Budapest memorandum the hell out of what remains.

Even after the war ends. How can Putin show his face anywhere

Russians sure love their battered spouse syndrome. No matter the amount of abuse they suffer, they (the population) always return home to their violent spouse (insert Russian leader).

What is it with Russia? Russian leaders historically have had absolutely no concern for human life. Stalin murdered millions, the czars cared nothing for the peasants. Putin’s right in the same mold.

At this rate, Russia won’t be a great power politically, economically, militarily, or demographically ever again.
Which honestly may be for the best.

This will affect Russian demographics for decades. All those loses due to the ego of one guy.

This is staggering. If true this exceeds the total number of US casualties in every war fought since 1776. In only 4 years.

Do this include the tons for fertilizers in Ukrainian fields.

That’s way more than the USSR lost in Afghanistan, and that war contributed heavily to the collapse of the USSR. Based on that, we can conclude that Russia is headed towards another epic collapse. It’s only a matter of time. Ukraine needs to keep holding the line and making it very expensive for Russia to continue the war.

The thing as seen from the front line is that it is mostly forced mercenaries from Africa and the Middle East.
So the casualties aren’t always Russian, until he is forced to take people from the big cities which apparently he is hesitant to do then the war will continue using cannon fodder from poorer nations of the world.
