Look away if you get motion sickness easily…
The hottest accessory at these Games might not be a stuffed “Tina” mascot or a Snoop Dogg pin, but rather a tiny drone camera that has become arguably the biggest topic of conversation.
First-person view (FPV) drones are everywhere across the mountain clusters at this Olympics, giving fans around the world a new — and sometimes dizzying — view of various events.
The FPV drones in Cortina, Livigno and Val di Fiemme allow viewers to get as close to a first-hand experience as one can when it comes to some of the craziest and fastest Winter Olympic sports.
Here’s U.S. bobsled pilot Elana Meyers Taylor on the cameras:
“I was watching luge the other day, and I was like, this is slightly nauseating, I don’t think I can watch this all the way down.
“I think (the drone) adds a new and interesting aspect, but as far as watching other (people’s) races from that angle, I think I’m gonna pass.”
