A graduate of the Ecole normale supérieure (ENS Ulm) and ENSAE with a PhD in economics from Harvard, Dorothée Rouzet first worked as an economic analyst at the French Treasury, in the economic mission in Sofia. She then joined the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2012, as an economist in the Trade in Services Division and then as a senior economist advising the chief economist. In March 2020, she was appointed macroeconomics advisor to Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy and Finance, before joining Citigroup as chief France economist. She was appointed as chief economist of the French Treasury in June 2023. She has also been a lecturer at ESCP Europe and Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne University
