Minor Hotels is set to make a notable impact in Europe with the grand reopening of two exclusive Adriatic resorts in Croatia and Slovenia in 2026. This move marks a significant expansion in the brand’s European portfolio, reflecting its commitment to enhancing its presence in one of the most sought-after regions for luxury travel. With these additions, Minor Hotels aims to tap into the growing demand for high-end leisure destinations along the Adriatic coast.

Minor Hotels, a renowned global hospitality leader, has entered into a management agreement with MK Group to add two new resorts to its portfolio along the Adriatic coast of Europe. Starting 12 February 2026, these properties will be managed by Minor Hotels, with their grand reopening scheduled for late March 2026. After undergoing comprehensive renovations, both resorts will relaunch in Q1 2027 under the prestigious Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection brands. This expansion marks Minor Hotels’ first ventures into Croatia and Slovenia, adding two new countries to its growing portfolio.

This announcement is part of Minor Hotels’ strategic growth in Europe, as it shifts its focus from urban hotels to enhancing its presence in key resort destinations within the Mediterranean region. Slovenia’s reputation for sustainable tourism and wellness traditions, combined with Croatia’s allure of its stunning coastline and Mediterranean lifestyle, makes these destinations highly attractive. In particular, Istria has become Croatia’s leading region for tourism, offering a mix of natural beauty, vibrant culinary experiences, and an outdoor-focused lifestyle.

The first Slovenian property, Hotel Palace Portorož, is located in the charming resort town of Portorož. Designed for discerning guests who prioritize privacy and bespoke experiences, the 183-room resort merges contemporary luxury with the region’s wellness legacy. The property features three restaurants, three bars, a spa, and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, ensuring a comprehensive wellness and leisure experience. With beach access and a designated MICE area, the hotel caters to both vacationers and business travelers. After the planned refurbishment, Hotel Palace Portorož will debut as Hotel Palace Portorož, Minor Reserve Collection Slovenia in Q1 2027.

Located just under 30 minutes from Portorož, Adriatic Istria Resort will be the first property by Minor Hotels in Croatia. Nestled in Savudrija on the prestigious Istrian Peninsula, this 186-room resort will offer a diverse range of dining experiences across three restaurants and four bars, alongside a dedicated MICE area designed to cater to the increasing demand for luxury corporate events, retreats, and weddings in the region. Guests seeking relaxation will find an expansive spa and wellness center, indoor and outdoor pools, and direct access to the beach. The resort is also home to the Adriatic’s top golf course, featuring the scenic 18-hole, par 72 Golf Adriatic PGA National Croatia course that stretches alongside the coastline.

An extensive renovation is planned, and the property will reopen as Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort in early 2027, bringing Anantara’s signature luxury experiences to the region. Guests can expect a blend of personalized hospitality, cultural explorations of Istrian heritage, and nature-focused activities.

This is a concept developed in response to the growing global demand for sophisticated, authentic, and truly exclusive experiences, with a particular focus on a distinctive spa and wellness offering. Such a move by MK Group will enable the positioning of the entire region on the map of the world’s most desirable destinations in the premium tourism segment,” said Mihailo Jankovic, CEO of MK Group.

Both properties enjoy excellent accessibility, with easy connections to Trieste Airport in Italy, Portorož Airport in Slovenia, and Pula and Rijeka Airports in Croatia.
