The National Intelligence Service (NIS) of South Korea has informed its lawmakers that North Korea’s dictator, Kim Jong-Un may most possibly select his teenage daughter as his next successor. There are also speculations that the North Korean leader is looking to extend his family dynasty to fourth generation.
The crucial information by NIS, the spy agency of South Korea comes amid speculations about a possible political conference to be organised by the North later this month. The Supreme Leader is likely to outline his roadmap for important policies and goals for next five years.
In a closed door briefing from NIS, a South Korean lawmaker told reporters, “In the past, the NIS described Kim Ju Ae as being ‘in study as successor’, but today the expression used was that she ‘was in the stage of being internally appointed successor.”
Who is Kim Ju Ae?
Kim Ju Ae is the daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un and his wife Ri Sol-ju. Although very little information is being made public about Kim Ju Ae, but she is believed to be around 13-year-old. She reportedly made her first public appearance in 2022 during the ballistic missile test, as reported by CNN.
Notably, the Korean peninsula was divided into North and South during World War 2, and since then, both the nations are at the state of war. While South Korea became economically very strong and independent, after accepting capitalism, North Korea still suffers from extreme poverty, food shortages, and limited access to healthcare. International sanctions and more focus on military spending have also added hardships for ordinary citizens.
North Korea is officially known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and is a very isolated country in East Asia.
