“Who in the government allowed marijuana to be cultivated on an area the size of 40 football stadiums, illegally? 15 days have passed and there are still no answers to the biggest drug scandal in the region – how 5 tons of drugs crossed the Macedonian border and who will be held responsible,” says the opposition SDSM.
The party emphasizes that, as they declare, “everyone is silent” and is calling on Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Interior Minister Pance Toshkovski, as well as other officials.
According to SDSM, faced with, as they claim, their responsibility, government representatives have launched a media campaign and auctioned off 100 tons of marijuana that they say was produced illegally.
“But they went even deeper into this issue. If someone managed to illegally produce 100 tons of marijuana, this is another confirmation that the fault lies entirely with the Government and the institutions that allowed it, did not control it and did not prevent it,” the party declares.
SDSM also asks how the security services did not notice such a large amount of drugs being transported, stored and packaged, and what ASK was doing.
The statement also raises the question of how 5 tons of drugs crossed the border, bypassing the “Secure City” system, scanners, checks, police and customs.
“There are no answers to these questions because the responsibility for the drug scandal lies with the top of the government. SDSM will not allow this drug scandal to be covered up. There is no escaping responsibility. You will all be held accountable,” the statement said.
