Uber has announced that it will relaunch its Uber Eats service in Romania later this year, following an initial market entry in 2018 and a withdrawal in 2020, as the company said it would focus on other key markets.
The re-entry into Romania is part of the biggest year of expansion in the company’s history, with seven new markets due to launch in 2026. This follows Uber’s strongest year of growth on record in Europe in 2025.
Worldwide, the app works with over one million restaurants and merchants in more than 10,000 cities.
“We are very pleased to expand into Romania and see enormous potential here to make everyday life easier,” says Courtney Tims, Regional General Manager for Western and Southern Europe at Uber Eats. “With our launch, people in Romania will have a new, convenient way to shop from their favorite local businesses at the tap of a button – fast and reliable, as they expect from Uber. At the same time, we provide local merchants with a platform to reach more customers than ever before and continue growing their business in the digital economy.”
Through Uber Eats, merchants – from family-run restaurants to retail chains – gain access to Uber’s extensive user base and delivery network and can expand their reach beyond their physical locations. The platform provides merchant partners with tools ranging from data analytics to marketing support to optimize operations and further improve service quality. The app will be adapted to Romanian conditions – with language support and common payment methods.
