This is a recurring theme every time I talk to teachers. Or those at after-school care. "The most common strategy has long been to "understand the child". To regulate down. To iron along. To reward the desired behavior. A trip to the school kitchen to bake. A break with the iPad. An adult on hand for two." For other children, it is experienced as if bad behavior is rewarded and these students know perfectly well what it takes to avoid sitting in "boring" classes
