Malta’s culinary scene has once again earned international recognition with the unveiling of the 2026 Malta edition of the MICHELIN Guide, which highlights continued growth, consistency and rising standards across the islands’ gastronomy sector.

This year’s selection features 48 restaurants in total, including six newly recommended establishments. All seven MICHELIN-starred restaurants retained their distinctions, a result inspectors described as evidence of sustained excellence and increasing maturity within Malta’s dining landscape. The Bib Gourmand category, recognising high-quality cuisine at good value, also expanded with a new addition, bringing the total to five restaurants.

At the top tier, ION Harbour by Simon Rogan maintained its two MICHELIN Stars, with inspectors praising its refined modern cuisine, strong farm-to-table philosophy and attention to detail. One-star restaurants Rosamì, Fernandõ Gastrotheque, De Mondion, Noni, Under Grain and Le GV also retained their stars, reflecting consistent quality across the fine dining segment.

Three professionals were recognised through the MICHELIN Special Awards. George Attard received the Young Chef Award for his work at Level Nine at The Grand in Gozo, where inspectors highlighted his contemporary Mediterranean cooking and refined presentation. The Service Award went to the team at Rosamì, led by director Charlo Cachia, while sommelier Miljan Radonjic of De Mondion was honoured for his expertise and guest-focused approach.

Verbena in Mġarr joined the Bib Gourmand selection, while new recommended restaurants include Scottadito in Nadur, Bistro Boca in Ta’ Xbiex, Anima and Le Majoliche in St Julian’s, and Scala in Mdina.

According to MICHELIN inspectors, Malta’s ongoing tourism growth and infrastructure development are expected to attract further high-profile openings in the coming years, reinforcing the islands’ position as a leading Mediterranean dining destination.

Well done to all restaurants and chefs awarded!
