SAN ANTONIO – Local officials are working to help improve health education in District 5.
Residents gathered Saturday at Las Palmas Library for a Community Health Plática hosted by District 5 and Metro Health, an event organizers described as successful and focused on bringing health education and services directly into the neighborhood.
Attendees received information on diabetes prevention and management, sexually transmitted infections, and substance use awareness.
The event also offered no-cost health screenings, connections to local health resources, and free fresh produce.
Organizers said the plática reflects an ongoing collaboration between District 5 and Metro Health aimed at providing accessible, neighborhood-based health services throughout the community.
Similar outreach efforts are expected to continue in the coming months.
