WEST BRANCH, Iowa (KCRG) – A truck crashed into the front of The Honey Den candy store Friday night, damaging the business’s main location while it was closed for renovations.
Owner Tiffany Frederick said she was relieved no one was present at the time of the crash.
“Thankfully we’re at another location. And so, gosh, it could’ve been a lot worse. There could’ve been kids here, that makes me a little emotional to think about,” Frederick said.
Frederick said she has been leaning on support from the community as she works through the situation.
“People have said the nicest things online, people have just been so supportive,” she said.
Josie Moore, an employee at Polished & Handcrafted across the street, said she heard the crash.
“It’s frightening, but everyone has accidents. It obviously wasn’t intentional. It couldn’t have really happened at a better time. Nobody got hurt,” Moore said.
Frederick said she can only remain in her temporary location until April, when another business is set to take over that space. She said the crash adds uncertainty to an already active renovation timeline.
She’s remaining optimistic.
“I think you can only be positive. I just want to move forward and start building the dream candy store I’ve dreamt of,” Frederick said.
